National HeadquartersThe Ghana Red Cross Society, a relief humanitarian organization, started in 1929 as the League of Maternal and Child Welfare; and in 1932 became the Gold Coast branch of the British Red Cross. On attainment of Ghana’s independence in 1957, it evolved into the Ghana Red Cross Society through an Act of Parliament (The GRCS Act 10, 1958).
With its headquarters in Accra, the Ghana Red Cross Society has secretariats in all ten (10) Regions of the country. We are also present in 86 Districts; covering about 63% of the country, with 56,000 volunteers comprising 60% Youth and 40% Adults.
