Mr Evans Ablordeppey, the newly-elected Assembly member for Anloga-West in Kumasi, has suggested that the nation should vigorously pursue a holistic approach to ensuring quality educational delivery at all levels.
He described as unfortunate the inadequate educational infrastructure and other facilities, particularly in rural communities which made education inaccessible to most of the youth and called for a strong public/private partnership to improve the situation.
He said, “As God continues to bless the nation with variety of resources such as oil, it is equally important that we invest in our human resource development for effective utilization and management for the nation’s benefit”.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi, Mr Ablordeppey who polled over 800 votes to be elected as an Assembly member, thanked the electorate for the confidence reposed in him.
He said he would involve the two other contestants whom he defeated in the poll in all development programmes and initiatives for the progress of the area.
Mr Ablordeppey decried the high school drop-out rate in his area, saying he had evolved a strategic educational plan to help improve on the situation.
This includes the construction of a library and educational fund to support brilliant-but-needy pupils in their educational endeavours.
He also promised to promote good sanitary practices and promote skills acquisition programmes for the youth in the area.
