The Ghana Education Service (GES) has delayed the vacation date for all Public Basic Schools by a day

The directive which is to enable Primary Four (P4) pupils to write the National Standardised Test means the students will now vacate on Friday, December 16, 2022, instead of today (Thursday, December 15, 2022)

The GES in a post on Facebook added that the re-opening date for the first term of the next academic year is January 10, 2023.

"The vacation date for Public Basic Schools for Third Term has been shifted to Friday 16th December, 2022," the post reads.

"This is to enable the Primary Four (P4) pupils write the National Standardised Test on Friday, 16th December, 2022".

National Standardised Test (NST)


The NST aims at improving learning outcomes for primary two, four and six pupils in public schools.

The maiden edition was written on Friday, December 17, 2021 throughout the country for pupils in primary four (P4).

It was conducted by the Ghana Education Service (GES) in collaboration with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

It was held at 2,850 examination centres in the country with 200 pupils writing per centre.

The vacation date for Public Basic Schools for Third Term has been shifted to Friday 16th December, 2022. This is to enable the Primary Four (P4) pupils write the National Standardised Test on Friday, 16th December, 2022.

Re-opening date for First Term of the next academic year is 10th January, 2023.
