Musicians and singing bands have been asked to avoid composing sing songs that could negatively affect peace and tranquility in the country, particularly during the events leading to the 2008 Election. Osabarima Awuah Kotoko II, chief of Begoro and Benkumhene of the Akim Abuakwa Traditional Area and Begorohene, made the call at the inauguration of the Begoro Singing Bands’ Union, a non-denominational group, on Saturday. He urged musicians and singing bands to sing songs that would promote love, peace and stability in the country. Osabarima Awuah Kotoko commended the Churches in Begoro for forming the group, which he said could assist in fostering unity among the people in the area. Mr Kwabena Adjabeng Ntori, presiding member of the Fanteakwa District assembly, called on the people to be disciplined, saying it was the bedrock for peace and progress. He urged parents to sing educative songs so that their children could learn and acquire wisdom from them. Mr Ayeh Wilmot, President of the Union, asked members to pay their monthly dues regularly to generate funds for the Union. He appealed to philanthropists and organisations to donate in cash and kind to the Union to enable it assist street children and orphans. The Union that is made up of 292 members from seven orthodox churches at Begoro was aimed at to fostering closer relationships among them and to propagate the gospel through the singing of gospel songs. They Churches are Begoro Presbyterian Central, Begoro-Odumase Presbyterian, Begoro Roman Catholic, Begoro Anglican, Begoro Methodist, Begoro AME Zion and Begoro Salvation Army.
