The May Medal monthly Open Championship of the Celebrity Golf Club tees off at Sakumono, near Tema on Sunday, May 25. Mr Joe Ohemeng, Captain of the Celebrity Golf Club, who announced this at Tema on Monday, said the one-day 18-Hole Medal-Play event, which is open to Greater Accra Regional Golf clubs, is expected to attract about 100 golfers. He said the event, which would be played under the rules of the Ghana Golf Association and the local rules of the Club, has Handicap 18 and 24 as the entry requirements. Abdul Aziz-Amankwa, Joe Ampofo, Kobina Quansah, Theophilus Asampong and E.O. Opoku, all of the Celebrity Golf Club, are expected to battle for the prestigious trophy. ‘Lady Scientific’ Florence Etwi-Barimah is also expected to lead the Tema Ladies team, which would include Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong, Esther Antwi and Grace Afriyie. Golfers use Medal competitions to sharpen their swings and strokes for major competitions.
