A 38-year-old fisherman, Simon Serwornu, yesterday became the proud winner of the first prize of a Jaguar S type car in the final draw of the MTN soccer fiesta promotion held at the MTN office, Osu. Speaking at the event the Senior Manager, (Brands) Mr Clement Asante, noted that as the owner of the football marketing property of the FIFA World Cup to be staged in South Africa and the 2008 Nations Cup, it was proper to contribute to generate and sustain excitement for the continental football fiesta. He indicated that the promotion was open to every Ghanaian, and for every GH ¢3 of airtime used, subscribers accumulated points which were entered into draws. He assured subscribers that they did not have to pay any money in order to participate or redeem their prizes in any MTN promotion. Mr Asante, therefore, asked subscribers to disregard any text message or communication from any source requesting them to pay monies or to contact individuals in order to participate in any promotion or claim a prize. He urged all subscribers to look forward to exciting lifetime experiences. The promotion gave subscribers the opportunity to win fantastic prizes including television sets, mobile phones, and the Jaguar car, as the ultimate prize. Mr Serwornu, who was overwhelmed by the award, told newsmen that when he first received the message he could not believe it and had to contact his brother who, after contacting MTN, confirmed the win. Elated Serwornu further thanked MTN and said. “I am really surprised and had not seen such a thing before”.
