THE WEST and Central Africa International Tennis Federation (ITF) Championship for Under-13, which started last July 13, 2008 in Dakar, Senegal, saw Ghana's female team winning gold medals in the single and double event categories.
According to Ignatius Elletey, General Secretary of the Ghana Badminton Association, 10 countries namely Nigeria, Niger, Gambia, Gabon, Cape Verde, Mali, Togo, Cote D'Ivoire, Senegal (hosts) and Ghana took part in the championship.
Information reaching DAILY GUIDE SPORTS indicated that Elizabeth Kapare and Laria Yakubu defeated Niger in the girls' double final to win gold for Ghana. Kapare also won gold in the singles event.
Moses Armah and Gabriel Atteh, representing Ghana's male team, lost to Nigeria in the double during the final match for bronze, while Laria Yakubu won bronze in the girls' singles, in the first part of the competition.
The tournament will end on July 30, 2008 with a short camping.
