Poor marksmanship proved the bane of Accra Hearts of Oak as they shared points with Kumasi King Faisal last Saturday in their Week 27 clash of the Onetouch Premier league honoured at the Ohene Djan Stadium. Faisal displayed from the onset that they were in for just a point and defended gallantly and caught Hearts on occasional breaks but also found it difficult to score from the few chances they created. Faisal’s resilience at the back notwithstanding, the Phobians created several goal scoring opportunities that could have handed them a massive win but were robbed by their lack of imagination upfront. Led in attack by Ekow Ghansah, Hearts came close in the 7th, 12th and 15th minutes but were let down by poor judgement on the part of Ghansah and Eric Gawu who were the worst culprit in the afternoon. Faisal opened up midway through the half but also failed to capitalise on the lapses at the Hearts rear. It was not an easy sight to watch the Hearts fans sit on the edges of their seats in the second half and watch their team go on a chance-squandering spree with the closest coming the way of Gawu. After surviving the initial scares from the Faisal side, Hearts stamped their authority on the game and threatened the defensive-minded Faisal side but messed up the chances or denied by an impressive Osei Boateng in post for Faisal. Francis Bossman set the stadium alight with a terrific drive that attracted another brilliant performance from the Faisal goalie. In the 61st minute, Gawu failed to score with an empty post in front of him after Bossman did all the ‘spade’ work. The introduction of Charles Taylor was met with a spontaneous applause from the fans but failed to ignite the magic the fans had yearned to see but impressed with his free-kicks that created melees in the visitors’ area.
