Proud Son Of The Kangaroo, Tic Tac, says he was overcome with joy anytime he saw the Black Stars do the Kangaroo dance after scoring goals in the just-ended 26th MTN Cup of Africa Nations (CAN) Ghana 2008 soccer tournament.“I have been overwhelmed and feel greatly appreciated seeing the Stars use my Kangaroo song and dance”He told Showbiz that not only did Black Stars use the dance, but as the host nation, they made it the unofficial tournament dance.
Players of other teams also adopted the dance and demonstrated it after a win. “The dance should be backed with faith, the power to remain focused and determined to achieve something. Just like a female kangaroo with its baby in its pouch, nurturing becomes it prime aim.
The motive behind the song is to move forward. Therefore the Stars made the right choice as they moved steadily in the tournament,” he said.
Born Nana Kwaku Okyere Duah, Tic Tac traces his success back to 1997 when he formed Natty Strangers with another friend. Young as they were, they became the toast of many shows.
Tic Tac’s outstanding features, however, made him win the hearts of many. With this, he got the previlege to feature and collaborate on several hits and that gave him the needed exposure to establish a name in the music industry.
Tic Tac was the first hiplife artist to collaborate with musicians such as Freddie Meiway of Ivory Coast, and Nigerian star Tony Tetuila on the explosive Fefe Na Efe, which received awards around the world.
He has taken part in several award-winning events such as MTV Base Africa launch among others over the years both in and out of the country granting him the needed exposure.
He believes recent events are the beginning of greater things to come. “Kangaroo is now accepted worldwide.
There are certain qualities that the Black Stars exhibited as true Sons of the Kangaroo in a brilliant and fantastic way”.
He takes the opportunity to thank the Black Stars for marketing him in a different way, especially to our neighbouring countries.
