The ever-cheerful Nollywood star, Shan George, has set the record straight by saying that she has tied the knot on a couple of ocassions and not the numerous times that people have been purporting. Shan also known to have made headlines with her romance with actor and comedian, Okey Bakassi said she has entered into holy matrimony on just two ocassions and not more than that.
“I have been married twice. I had two kids from my first marriage which I entered when I was about 17. You know I was brought up in the village and in there, a woman should be married by age 18. I looked forward to that marriage but I realised it wasn’t really what I wanted so I left after a few years”, she said.
Her second marriage is reported to have hit the rocks because she could not stand the cold in Europe where the man was staying.
Even though she is currently single again, Shan says she is definitely not searching for a man. "I am not in any marriage; I am single again, but not searching!" She said.Shan also revealed that she doesn’t need booze or smoke to get excited as people think. The actress who sports a low crop said she seldom allow things to disturb her much or weigh her down
thus she hardly have some dull moments.
In a chat with nigeriamovies.net, Shan sees every moment of her life as high moments. “I see every moment as memorable and high. I don‘t drink alcohol or smoke but most often, I feel higher than those under the influence of alcohol.
“This is not to say I never have dull moments but I don’t dwell too much on them when they occur. I can vividly remember the one that happened recently and that was when I invested my money in a movie production and nothing came out of it. That made me sad, naturally one ought to be sad about a big loss. That I believe was the only sad moment of my life”, she said.
The star who has been described as one with dress sense said simplicity defines her style. “It is my watchword. If one were to make a list of fashionable ladies in Nigeria, I don’t think my name will come up but I try as much as possible to dress well and be comfortable in what I wear. I try to dress to suit the the occasion.
“I’m a casual person. I feel comfortable in casual outfits but what I don’t like wearing are outfits with flashy details like studs, stones and sequins. I take my time to remove them from my dresses.
“I however like all the accessories most women go in for such as jewellery, good shoes, belts, handbags and sunglasses. But my most cherished fashion item is a pair of sunglasses”, she added.
Life started in a small village for Shan. “It is called Ediba in the Cross-River State. After the death of my father when I was just five, my mother left Enugu to live in Ediba where I grew up. My mum worked as a nurse in one of the local hospitals. She is now retired. My father was an expatriate from England.“Here I was, half-caste living in a village that had no electricity. I remember as a young girl I had my own bed but not all the other basic amenities like TV. I remember how I used to go to watch television in neighbours’ houses. I had this big ambition to be great someday. How to go about it then, I did not know. But I just kept on dreaming, and hoped it happens”, she said.
The star, who has gone from being an actress to a scriptwriter and producer, is currently featuring in a reality show tagged, T36.
“T36 is my new project. It is a reality show. It’s all about touring the 36 states of Nigeria, and bringing to bare some unknown tourist sites while celebrating the existing ones”, she said.
