MaddHaus incorporated, Ghana’s most prestigious record label, has stated that it is committed to discovering, harnessing, developing and promoting Ghanaian music talents. The company, which is about to train hundreds of Ghanaian musicians to meet international standards, said its mission was to promote, manage, and develop the image of artistes and bring out the star in them. Speaking at a media launch in Accra which was attended by a cross section of Ghanaian musicians, journalists and some stakeholders in the music industry, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Livingstone Aik Abani said his outfit would work tirelessly to put Ghanaian and African music on the global map and “that is a promise we will deliver”. He disclosed that the company had already signed onto its label Samini, Bandana, Kwabena Kwabena, King David, Nana Quame and Tinny, adding that a number of contemporary local artistes had hinted their eagerness to sign onto the MaddHaus record label. According to him, his outfit’s confidence to deliver on its promise was not just borne out of the fact that it had signed on some fine artistes, but also because it had some of the finest industry people on its team in terms of sound engineering and creative direction. “To further buttress my point, we have just taken a group that has for the past 10 years been involved in the discovery and subsequent success stories of such renowned artistes like Tinny, Obrafuor, Kwaw Kese, Bolli of ‘Kiss the Bride’ fame and quite a number of artistes”. The CEO hinted that Madd Haus had three in-house recording studios with state-of-the-art equipment as well as live band equipment and bandsmen. He stated that in the next few weeks, the company would release a hit track on Tinny’s upcoming album, ‘Get Them’, featuring world renowned hiphop star, Ja Rule. Aik Abani disclosed that his outfit would soon embark on a talent hunt project dubbed, MaddHaus Talent Hunt 2008, targeted at the youth. On her part, the vice president in-charge of media relations and publicity, Obuobia Darko-Opoku said MaddHaus aims to create possibilities for a new crop of talented singers, instrumentalists, and composers among others, whose music genres go beyond already established musical boundaries in the country. She hinted that the first prize winner would take home GH¢3,000, a brand new Kia Rio saloon car and one year recording and management contract with MaddHaus. The second prize winner takes home GH¢1500, one year recording and management contract with MaddHaus and a home theatre, while the third prize winner goes home with GH¢1000, a home theatre and one year recording contract. She said her organization would hereafter be responsible for producing, managing, packaging, marketing and promoting the artistes. To this end, it would organize tours for the musicians, with international stars; as well as arrange for them to come out with their own choreographed dances, which would boost sales of their albums.
