Miss Ghana 2007, Frances Judith Takyi Mensah, who had wanted the Black Stars to win the match against Cameroon on Thursday, wept when the Stars failed to win.
“I was sad and depressed; I really wanted them to win the match at all cost. I did really support the Stars because I have passion for football.”
She told Beatwaves in a chat after the match that she wanted the senior national team to win because the name Ghana has gone international and that winning the match would have further boosted the country’s image in all areas of international concern, including entertainment.
“Winning the match and the cup would have boosted my image at the Miss World beauty pageant to be held later in the year.”
According to her, although she was sad when the Stars lost the match, she believed they did well as far as the tournament was concern.
“I think it is enough getting to the semi-final stage of the tournament. All the players did well and performed creditably to my satisfaction.
Michael, John Mensah, Junior Agogo among others did a good job for the country.”
Miss Ghana 2007 was optimistic that the Black Stars would beat Ivory Coast to win the silver medal, stressing that this shall come to pass if the Stars utilize their chances well.
She congratulated the team for the sterling performance, and wished them all the best in today’s match.
