Gradually, the OneTouch Premier League shapes up as the competition gears towards the end of the first round with match-day-13 producing thrilling results which shows the strength of home teams. Seven games were played today and life at bottom doesn’t look good for Great Olympics as it continues to get worse after thirteen games. The Wonder Boys trail the leaders by a whopping 22 points. Asante Kotoko have opened a six point gap at the top while Liberty Professionals leapfrog Heart of Lions to second place. Heart of Lions failed to go level on point with Asante Kotoko as Daniel Nii Adjei’s 79th minute goal delivered the Porcupine Warriors the win in their midweek fixture 3-2 at the Baba Yara Stadium. Kotoko, thus extend their lead at the top by six points while Heart of Lions after defeat drop to the third position. Wednesday’s late kick off saw the home team jumping into the lead through Richard Manu before Dominic Adiyah drew level for Lions. However, Samuel Inkoom was on hand to make it 2-1for the Porcupine Warriors as they ended the half on tops. Dominic Adiyah, again leveled matters for the Kpando-based side. It looked like heading for a draw. Then, in the 79th minute, Daniel Nii Adjei stroked in the winner to secure the Reds the three points. The Reds still have a game in hand which would be honoured this weekend. Liberty Professionals rallied back from a goal down to crush bottom-placed, Great Olympics 3-1 at the Ohene Djan Stadium. The Dansoman-based team felled back in the 6th minute when Paa Joe Kumah scored from a spot kick for the Wonder Club. It appeared a bright start by Great Olympics until Samuel Ayew Yeboah hit into the roof of the net from close range, a rebound from a freekick which Olympics goalkeeper, Salifu had spilled into play. Fourteen minutes after the equalizer, Ayew Yeboah grabbed a brace when he doubled up the scores for Liberty Professionals. In the 78th minute, Liberty had put the game beyond the relegation strugglers as Latif Salifu scored his fifth goal of the season. The young attacker, who hit a hat-trick over the weekend, rounded up a defender before slipping the ball under the prowling arms of the Olympics goalkeeper to give Liberty the important win and their third consecutive victory which sends them to second on the table. At the Tema Park, Kessben FC were handed a real beating by Real Sportive as they left the grounds 0-3 losers. Goals from Joel Adjei, Esmen Mends and Kennedy Asamoah handed the Sportive victory over Kessben FC. Issah Salihu’s 30th minute strike helped Wa All Stars to a 1-0 victory over Tema Youth at the Wa Park. Real Tamale United continued their impressive form at home beating Berekum Arsenals 3-1 at the Tamale Sports Stadium. Two first half goals from Fatawu Mohammed and Kabiru Imoro set the stage for victory before Fatawu got his brace to make it 3-0 in the 79th minute. Prince Attakora grabbed a consolation for the Gunners in the 89th minute. Sekondi Hasaacas were in devastating form today as they thrashed ten-man Gamba All Blacks 5-1 at the Essipong Sports Stadium. Charles Nartey and Isaac Donkor grabbed a brace each while Kwesi Biney found his name on the scoring sheet with Richard Yanful, getting the Black Magicians’ only goal of the rout. All Blacks had Osei Bonsu sent off after receiving the red card. AshantiGold and King Faisal shared the spoils at the Len Clay Stadium in their goalless draw match. The game between Accra Hearts of Oak and Zaytuna FC would come off on Thursday at the Ohene Djan Stadium.
