Ghana’s hiplife star Emmanuel Samini has stated that though he has taken in good faith criticisms that he performed abysmally at the ‘December To Remember’ show on December 28 last year, he blames Citi FM for the gaffe. He condemned Citi Fm, organizers of the event, accusing the radio station of not being professional in the way and manner it handled the time agreements they had with him. “I was on backstage 10:30 as scheduled. Then somebody came to tell me, we were going on stage in 45 minutes. After 11: 45, they said you going on 12:30; then again they said we were going at 2:00. I was on stage around three something, when the whole crowd was already tired.” This according to him was discouraging as he did not find it enthusiastic performing while on stage during the night. The current hip hop world African Artiste of the Year award winner, made the revelation at a seminar held at the Alisa hotel on Wednesday, for players in the showbiz industry. The seminar, which was under the theme, ‘Entertainment in Ghana Today’, was organized by Empire Entertainment to celebrate its one year anniversary. However, Samini’s complaints attracted a reaction from a CITI Fm correspondent who only mentioned her first name as Angela. She said, “Audiences always get tired at a point, so what is Samini’s concern? “At Citi Fm when we organize programmes, the main artistes always come at the end of the show. I don’t know who spoke to Samini before he came; we are sorry if the audience was tired.” Amandzeba Nat Brew then intervened saying Samini, like any other artiste, had the right to complain, if he felt he was not treated fairly. Samini, who spilled the beans while contributing to the state of performances in Ghana today, said performers “lack the platform and logistics we need. I remember I had to fight with my management and organizers of a certain event over the fact that I wanna perform live band and I was not allowed. I was not provided the platform, so when I go up there and not able to do my best, I am blamed,” he said. “There is also a problem of arrogant media houses that are organizers of some programmes and for that matter if artistes don’t go by their rules, you will not be given the platform.” It was during this submission that he blamed Citi fm for his alleged underperformance. Meanwhile, he said he did agree to be on Ofori Amponsah’s 24th December show, though his name was used in advertising the show. “I was supposed to be in Ghana to perform for Ofori Amponsah’s 24th show but because I have already decided to go and spend sometime with my family, chill with my daughter outside Ghana, I did not agree with anybody to perform on 24th. But then there are adverts already running in the city that I was performing on Ofori’s bill”.
