As part of efforts to build a vibrant movie industry in Ghana, the management of Studio 502 has decided to offer training programmes to movie stars in the country. In line with this objective, the management of Studio 502 disclosed that work was almost complete on its ultra-modern studio facility. Briefing the media, the chief executive officer of Studio 502, Gregory Arthur hinted that he had plans to establish a school of performing arts with a view to giving a professional touch to movie stars seeking to add value to their acting skills, at an affordable fee. He said during training sessions the stars would be taken through a four-week intensive programme in acting techniques, script writing, interpretation and analysis, voice training, speech, dance techniques, and free style dancing among others. According to him, currently registration was in progress for interested stars and the youth who want to acquire skills in the above mentioned areas. In a related development, Studio 502 in collaboration with Plan, on May 8, 2008 launched a child media technology training programme, designed to equip basic school children of the urban deprived areas of Accra with information technology. The launch saw the exhibition of skills by pupils of the Hijaz Islamic School, Chorkor Presbyterian School, and Liberation Road Basic School among others. Studio 502 takes a keen and special interest in training the youth in the field of camera work, sound engineering, editing, lighting, directing and production management. The studio also trains the youth to acquire skills in hard and soft wares of computer.
