Tic Tac is one musician who needs no introduction, having been on the music scene for a long while now. He has been described by certain key personalities in the show business as a talented music star whose style of performance influences lots of music fans in Ghana and beyond, and also ranked one of the prominent recording artistes in the country today. Performing at the Accra International Conference Centre on December 28, 2007, Tic Tac delighted fans with hiplife music that would forever remain in their hearts. He mounted the stage with fire and was consistent and able to control the crowd throughout the show.
Screams of straight hysteria greeted him as he came up stage, and as usual, the artiste took the crowd on a musical journey that bordered much on love. The musician started with several songs from his old basket like 'Mmaa Formula', ‘Serwaa Akoto', ‘Philomena', and then moved on to a couple of new songs on his current album, ‘Kangaroo’. Fans moved and grooved to his style, with the girls literally swooning. No one was seen sitting; everybody was standing, making it look as if the place was meant for dancing.
You should have been there to see girls with God-given assets winding and grinding waists, shaking and wriggling bums. In fact Tic Tac’s performance, according Kiki Banson, CEO of EKB Records, was a finished product and could compete with those on the international market.
Another artiste to shake the auditorium was Becca, a new entrant in the music industry who has carved a niche for herself with her stagecraft and dancing skill. She is one of the few Ghanaian female artistes gradually making it to the international music scene. With music and style of play, Becca has been able to convince music critics to appreciate that she is one of Ghana's best and one of the leading entertainers in the country.
Gifted and talented not only in singing but also dancing, Becca perfectly exhibits these talents anytime she has the chance to perform, and her creative skills, stagecraft and style are equally always acknowledged by audience. Due to the spectacular performance she put up during Ofori Amponsah’s concert, Becca was invited to perform alongside others artistes at the Lumba Brothers re-union musical concert on December 29.
She was at her best, and was able to thrill music fans to satisfaction with a live band. She took everybody by surprise as music lovers were on their feet dancing and singing with her. One thing that was clear, looking through the crowd that attended the various musical shows, was the fact that it was mostly a very youthful and energetic crowd.
Becca’s live performances on December 24 and 29 won her a place is the hearts of most music fans. She did demonstrate to the crowd through her singing and dancing skills that she was truly a force to reckon with in the global music scene. Her presence in Ghana’s showbiz has paved the way for other female artistes who are also currently doing well.
A London-based DJ, Giles Bossman stated that for him, Becca was the only international artiste Ghana has for now, adding that if some of her songs were remixed, they could match with those on the international music scene. DJ Nii of Afrodisiac Nite Club, who was also full of praises for Becca, noted that her CD album was the only product in Ghana which could match the likes of 2 Face and a host of others.Kwame Yeboah, a producer who has worked with Michael Jackson and other international music stars, has observed that Becca could go places if she is marketed well. On his part, Carlos Sekyi said Becca had the potential, long life span as well as a bright future in the music industry, adding that most people appreciate Becca’s kind of music because it is uncommon.
