The lead artiste of the Wisdom Band, Marcus Marcus, has urged Ghanaian Musicians to stick together to be able to influence society. “In unity, they can help government and help the most deprived ones in the society”. Speaking in an interview at Yegoala Hotel in Dansoman, Marcus said there are a lot of opportunities in music that Ghana could benefit from, if the musicians have one voice. The wisdom Band, a London based reggae band, is currently on a two-week tour with the Jamaica-based international Mighty Diamonds. Marcus noted that Jah Selassie high has made everyone for a purpose and he believes it is the role of the musicians to help educate their people and insist that they get knowledge enough to prevent leadership from taking advantage of them. He challenged Ghanaian musicians to use their music as a tool to change the rots in the society and make the society better. “They can organize charity concerts to raise money and take care of the poor, they can bring foreign exchange to the country and they can give jobs to the jobless”, Marcus added. The frank and vocal reggae star, said among the many countries he has visited across the globe, Ghanaians have demonstrated unique attitudes. He said that “People in Ghana have what it takes to attract people from other places in the world to visit her.” He also lauded Ghana for demonstrating its belief in democracy saying that Ghana is the first country in Africa to free itself from the so-called colonial masters and has since set the pace for the liberation of other countries in Africa.
