Are you a fan of Greenland crooner, TY Bello? Are you waiting to watch her perform at a musical concert soon? If yes, you may be waiting in vain as the rave of the moment has vowed never to perform at shows.
In the current edition of Genevieve, the ex-KUSH member says she is contented being a recording artiste and photographer. In spite of series of invitations extended to her to perform at shows, TY says she would rather be a song writer and video producer than a performer.
“It was a personal decision not to do shows at all, because for me Greenland is not about money,” TY declares.
Excerpts:
Undoubtedly, TY’s last five years have been quite eventful, apart from that brief but brilliant exploit as a member of KUSH, TY has also grown to become one of Nigeria’s most celebrated photographers with award-wining works that have been exhibited all over the world to her credit.
TY’s photographic skills have made her the darling of many upliners who desire a photofinish portrait. Not content with her achievement as a reputable photographer, TY returned to her first love-music and released ‘Greenland’, a solo musical effort acknowledged as an inspirational chartbuster. TY also has her eyes on film and video production and has sneaked abroad a couple of times for sandwich courses.
Overcome with a sense of gratitude, she says she feels honoured by all these acknowledgements adding that all the gratitude should go to the ‘man above’.
Reacting to insinuations that her divided attention has made it impossible for her to fully explore the potentials of Greenland, she says that album is not just an album, but a message that’s never going to get outdated. She sees it more like another medium of communication and is not really bothered about how much money it has generated or how many shows it has brought to her. As a matter of fact, she says “it was a personal decision no to do shows at all, because for me Greenland is not about money.”
Talking about her foray into films, TY says it is another medium she hopes to use in communicating her message. In spite of series of invitations extended to her to perform at shows, TY says she would rather be a song writer and video producer than a performer.
And now that she’s more sorted out about her photography, music and video, it’s time for the babies to come. And about time too!
