Yaw Nkrumah Returns

After going on a short break, young and talented mid-morning presenter on Hot FM, Yaw Nkrumah is back on air with new style and skills. Yaw, who is not new to radio listeners in the metropolis, has been one of a few radio presenters in the country who have carved a niche for themselves on the mid-morning shows on radio. “I went on a short break on a research work to enrich my programme, Adwuma Pa Ye. I am always focused and always go through research before going on air to present my programme and in order to achieve success in your day-to-day activities you need to work hard,” he told Beatwaves in a chat. He said as host of Hot FM’s mid-morning show, he needs to develop more skills and creative styles in presentations on radio. Yaw, who has not yet experienced any setback in his work, said he is still working tirelessly to upgrade his skills so as to become of the country’s best radio presenter. “If I see my colleagues doing well internationally, it inspires me. And that’s what I hope to do. I haven’t reached where I want to in life; I’ve not succeeded enough to feel that I’ve made it. I’m still learning the ropes.” Currently Yaw, who is studying human resource management at the Methodist University, hopes to pursue a degree in law afterwards. Yaw Nkrumah, aka Adwumawura, who is keen on improving his performance and promoting the radio industry in Ghana, said the way to make money in radio broadcast should be long-term strategies based on effective techniques. He pointed out that three things create strong and successful radio station operation, saying they are quality signals, promotion and programming, adding that after strategizing, presenters need to research into the taste and needs of their listeners. Ever since he joined Hot FM a year ago from Adom FM, he has always been in tune with national and international issues. Since he became a radio presenter, Yaw has single-handedly worked around the clock to make his presentations unique. He has also taken it upon himself to encourage the up-coming presenters by learning from those already on the scene. “I have been doing my best to reach the top of the ladder and I’m always prepared to meet the challenges ahead,” he told Beatwaves smiling. According to him, he would not rest until he reaches the top, adding, “the sky is my limit. I will work extra hard to maintain the good image I have attained so far as a presenter. I see myself as a hardworking presenter and always think of satisfying my listeners and admirers in whatever I do”.
