A senior midwife Superintendent of the Apam Catholic Hospital, Miss Rosemond Turkson has advised diabetic patients against self-medication and using other un-approved herbal medicines.
She said resorting to the use of such medicines could lead to patients worsening their condition. Miss Turkson said self-medication often compounded the conditions of the patients. "The ailment cannot be eliminated but controlled,” she said, adding that the general public should feel free to enquire about their health status by visiting the hospital frequently.
Miss Turkson mentioned some of the symptoms of diabetes as blurred sight, frequent urination and obesity, especially among those who are above 35 years.
