Parliament has approved a motion for the nomination of eight new members of parliament to represent the country at the ECOWAS parliament. The majority leader, Hon. Cletus Avoka moved the motion for the approval of the nominees.
They include Hon. Michael Teye Nyaunu, leader of the delegation, Hon. Dominic Azumah, Hon. Francis Yaw Osei-Sarfo, Hon. Alfred Agbesi and Hon. Frederick Opare Ansah. The rest are Hon. Simon Mensah, Hon. Stephen Yakubu and Hon. Catherine Abelema Afeku.
The approval of the motion was by a unanimous decision devoid of any controversy. However both sides of the House underlined the need for the House to come out with clear criteria to select a leader for Ghana’s delegation to the ECOWAS Parliament in future. Hon. Avoka advised the nominees to be good ambassadors of the country in discharging their duties.
