Members of Free Woyome Movement, a group made up of some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday called for justice to prevail in the Alfred Agbesi Woyome judgement debt scandal. The call was made by Mr David Tamakloe, Convenor of the Movement, at a press conference in Accra. He said, "No well meaning Ghanaian is saying the issue of judgement debt should not be probed or subjected to thorough scrutiny but let us not, in our desire to get the full picture in relation to these judgement debts, sacrifice justice and fairness for sensationalism and misapplication of justice". Mr Tamakloe pointed out that there were deliberate attempts by some 'invisible hands' to only disgrace and humiliate Mr Woyome who was allegedly detained for more than the constitutionally permissible limit of 48 hours, and denied bail for charges which bail could be granted. Woyome and three others have appeared before court on charges of fraud. The others are Samuel Neequaye-Tetteh, Chief State Attorney at the Attorney General's Department, Paul Asamaning, Head of Legal Duties, Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and Gifty Neequaye-Tetteh, a businesswoman. Three of them were denied bail except, Gifty who was granted bail because she is a nursing mother. They were remanded in Police custody to reappear on February 13.
