Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate for elections 2012, has reiterated his promise to make secondary education free if voted into power. He said the party would also ensure the rapid transformation of teacher education in the country by providing the necessary infrastructure; equipments and motivation for teachers to enable them deliver. Nana Addo was addressing a three-day youth strategy workshop for the youth wing of the NPP in the Northern region in Tamale on Thursday. The participants would draw up strategies for effective campaign in the 2012 general elections. Other stalwarts of the party at the workshop included: Mr. Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, National Chairman, Mr. Owusu Afriyie, General Secretary and Mr. Anthony Abyaifa Karbo, National Youth Organiser. He said the next NPP government would also re-vitalize the National Health Insurance Scheme to ensure that it operates more efficiently for the benefit all Ghanaians. Nana Akuffo-Addo called for unity and hard work within the NPP now that the contest for positions in the party is over. He asked all party members to put their individual or factional interests aside and "work together as one united family for victory in 2012". The presidential aspirant urged the youth to take the 2012 elections very seriously since it was very critical in determining their future. He added that over 80 per cent of the voting population would be between the ages of 18 to 40 years and therefore they had a high stake in the elections. Nana Addo said if voted into power, the NPP would transform the economy into a model one that would promote growth as well as generate jobs for the youth.
