..Parents express concern on the state of school Adeiso (E/R) Oct. 14, GNA - Parents of Anglican Primary and Junior High Schools at Adeiso in the West Akyem District raised concern about classes being held under huts and trees and called on the authorities to help check the situation. The Parents, who also expressed misgiving about the pupils academic performances had resolved to contribute towards organising extra classes and mock examinations to help improve the fallen standards of the schools. The parents made the call at an emergency Parent-Teacher-Association (PTA) meeting held at Adeiso on Friday. Mr. Charles Aryah Addy, Chairman of the Association said about three years ago, the Association initiated the construction of two-classroom and four-classroom blocks for the kindergarten and primary departments respectively. He said these projects, with the introduction of the government capitation grant were abandoned since parents stopped paying dues and levies. Mr. Addy said parents who have realised the need to provide the school with the needed logistics and infrastructure were determined to restore contributions to the building fund to enable them to raise funds to complete projects initiated in the schools. Mr. Collins Ado Sarpong, the head teacher of the Primary who gave the children total intake as 987 said only 495 are schooling in a permanent structure with the rest holding classes under huts and trees. He said the permanent structures were mud buildings constructed more than 50 years ago with their roofs leaking badly. Mr. Sarpong called on Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) and the District Assembly to come to the aid of the school.
