Conduct Campaigns With Decency And Vivility-Bright Website
The General Secretary of the Ghana Journalists’ Association (GJA), Mr. Bright Blewu has exhorted politicians be decent even as they campaigned for power. Campaigning for the December polls has begun in earnest and Mr. Blewu is cautioning politicians to be civil and decorous in their utterances on both political platforms and in the media. According to him, inflammatory statements and utterances should be of concern to all peace loving Ghanaians because it could plunge the country into chaos as happened elsewhere. He cautioned against spreading falsehood and deception in order to gain political power. “If you are saying something you know you cannot substantiate, don’t say it because you will not be helping people to make informed choices,” he stressed. Mr. Blewu emphasised that even if what is said is true, they ought to say it in a manner that will not provoke others. He stressed the need for politicians to say the things they want to say without being provocative.
