Court Issues Bench Warrant for Dr Nduom’s Arrest Website
A high court in Ho has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, flag bearer of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP). The presiding judge, Justice Essel Mensah, who gave the ruling today said Dr Nduom refused to appear before the court after he had been asked to do so. Dr Nduom is among 25 people who have been cited in a contempt brought against them by the party’s Regional Chairman and Secretary, Nii Adjetey Sowah. In an interview with Joy News, Mr Sowah said the situation emanated from an impasse over the reinstatement of the Chairman who resigned and later rescinded his decision. According to him, the Chairman’s reinstatement was however challenged by some party functionaries who took it to court. Their case was, however, not upheld by the court which ruled in favour of the Regional Chairman. Mr. Sowah said Dr Nduom was included in the contempt suit after he and other members of the party’s national executive body directed the chairman to step down. Reacting to the report, CPP’s Director of Communications, Koshie Dede said the party is yet to find out the details of the case to respond appropriately. He said Dr Nduom had always been interested in any issue that affected the party and would not have hesitated to accede to the court’s request if he (Dr Nduom) was truly aware of the request.
