The Western Regional Youth Organiser of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Mr. Chris Nkrumah, has advised core members of the party, who are peeved about the election of Dr. Paa Kwesi Ndoutn as flagbearer of the party, not to vote 'skirt and blouse' as in the December elections, as some of then are threatening to do.
According to him even though the CPP flag bearer championed "skirt and blouse" voting during the 2004 elections, it would not be in the interest of the party for members to emulate him, because the party was determined to make an impact in this year's elections.
Speaking in an interview with The Chronicle, Mr. Chris Nkrumah noted that the party needed to find its strengths and weakness, and that adopting the 'skirt and blouse’ attitude would not help them achieve their objective of winning power.
Mr. Chris Nkrumah told the Chronicle newspaper reporter that information he had received, indicated that some supporters of the party were unhappy with the election of Dr Ndoum as the party’s flag bearer and were bent of punishing him come December this year.
He advised the aggrieved party members to forget the past and work towards winning the general elections.
Dr Ndoum in the last election campaigned for the election of President Kufuor for presidency while his party’s flag bearer, Mr George Aggudey was also in the presidential race.
That action, some members of the CPP are not prepared to forgive him.
Mr Nkrumah contended that one Dr Ndoum had publicly apologized for his conduct during the elections, it was reasonable for the followers of the party to forgive him.
