The Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service on Friday expressed appreciation to the media, stakeholders and partners for their support.
In a statement it said “we express appreciation to the media in particular, other stakeholders and partners for the support in the fight against child abuse and gender-based violence including domestic violence”.
The statement signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police Freeman Tettey, Public Affairs Officer of DOVVSU said: “The efforts and assistance of partners is commendable as it goes a long way to help the Unit in the efficient discharge of its services.”
On its activities, it said to promote awareness, DOVVSU in 2010 embarked on series of sensitisation and outreach programmes, which were publicised in the mass media.
The Unit appealed to the media for greater collaboration to bring about attitudinal change on the part of perpetrators of domestic violence and inform victims of their rights to access justice through reporting any abuse to the police for redress.
