Ghana Cedi takes over

The Bank of Ghana on Monday said with effect from January 1, 2008 only Ghana Cedi Cheques will be accepted for transactions. It therefore, advised customers to contact their bankers for the issue of Ghana Cedi Cheques. A statement signed by Mr James A. Odei, Secretary to the Bank further stated that on the re-denomination of the cedi and the use of old cedi cheques, the Ban reminded banks, non-banks financial institutions and the public that, "the use of cedi cheques shall cease with effect from the close of business on December 31, 2007."
