Two units of the Ghana's mission in Cote d'Ivoire has donated a washing machine and its accessories to the Pouponniere Orphanage in Bouake.
In statement issued by Flight Lieutenant Robinson Omani-Agyei to the Ghana News Agency, The Ghana Aviation Unit (GHAV) 8 and the Ghana Military Medical Level II (GHANMED) 7 serving with the United Nations Mission in Cote d'Ivoire (UNOCI) which donated the items, observed that it was their widow's mite to the orphanage.
Group Captain Maxwell Nagai, Commander of GHAV 8, who presented the items on behalf of GHAV/GHANMED, said the donation was an exhibition of the Ghana Contingent's desire to serve the people of Cote d'Ivoire not only through peacekeeping but to share with them the little they have in times of difficulty.
Madam Ade Maraim, caretaker of the Orphanage, thanked the GHAV/GHANMED for their gesture.
She said the items especially the washing machine would go a long way to assist in hygiene of the orphans.
The GHAV 8 earlier in the day held a thanksgiving service to thank God for seeing them through their duty tour and to seek God's guidance
and protection for the in-coming Unit, GHAV 9.
