Give Mantle To Politicians With The Capacity To Work – MP Website
Ghanaians should give the mantle of leadership to those with the capacity to work to redeem the country from its present economic doldrums for the benefit of future generations. They should give the mandate to “well tested and proven” politicians and not just “ambitious people who are attracted by what they see as the glamour of high office. These have the thoughts of Mr. Jonathan Nii Tackie Komme, MP for Odododiodioo. Speaking at the inauguration of the “I care for you” branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Agbobloshie on Sunday, Nii Tackie Komme described the party as the “only one to redeem the country”. He called on the electorate to vote for the Presidential Candidate of the NDC, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, to form the next government and for the MP for the party to retain the seat. Nii Tackie Komme described politics as, “serious business, which should be handled by serious people with the capacity to deliver” and urged the people to assess his achievement within his two and half-year tenure and give him the nod in the December general elections. He appealed to the branch executives of the party to launch a membership drive and to ensure that, those qualified but, with no voter identity cards registered when the Electoral Commission re-opened the Voters’ register to enable them to exercise their franchise in the elections. The MP urged the branches to select dedicated members to be trained as Polling Agents to monitor the elections to avoid rigging. Mr. Ibn Abbas, MP for Bimbilla, accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of deceiving Ghanaians and failing to deliver on its campaign promises to create jobs and to solve the economic hardship facing them and called on the people to “show the NPP a lesson by voting them out”. The MP, who had been endorsed by his constituency unopposed to contest the elections appealed to the electorate at Odododiodioo to “break the tradition of changing an MP at every election” to retain Nii Tackie Komme to ensure continuity and to vote for Professor Atta Mills to form the next government describing the Presidential candidate as ”a good man”. Dr. A Rockson, an aspiring candidate of the NDC for Nkwanta North, who was the Chairman for the occasion commended members of the branch for coming together to support the party and urged the youth to take their destiny into their own hands by “kicking the NPP out of office”. He pointed out that, the social democratic policy of the NDC made it the “party to vote for” since it had the welfare of the people as its supreme principle”. Swearing in the executives of the branch, Mr Daniel Nii Okai, Constituency Chairman, stated that, the inauguration was part of a general re-structuring of party in the area to ensure victory for the NDC in the elections. He urged the executives to work hard and to co-operate with the other branches in the area to make victory at the December elections, a “forgone conclusion”.
