A high powered Government delegation led by the Minister of Chieftaincy and Culture, Mr Asumah Ahinsan, on Friday attended the funeral rites of the Kwahu Queen, Nana Abena Gyamfua II, at Abene in the Kwahu-East District.
The queen died at the age of 102 years. The late Nana Gyamfua was the mother of the Omanhene of the Kwahu Traditional Area, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng, II. The delegation on behalf of the government donated one carton of schnapps, 12 cartons of beer and Guinness, six crates of soft drinks, 100 tubers of yam, a ram and GH¢3,000 to the bereaved family.
Other members of the delegation included the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Ofosu- Ampofo and the District Chief Executive for Kwahu South, Mr Joseph Omari, Kwahu North, Mr Evans Charles Apraku, Kwahu East, Mr Samuel Asamoah and Kwahu West Municipal, Mr Alex Asamoah.
Others included the Eastern Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Tawiah Boateng and some NDC supporters. Receiving the donation on behalf of the family, the Adontehene of the Kwahu Traditional Area, Nana Asiedu II, thanked the government mourning with them.
