The Defence Counsels of Kwabena Amaning (Tagor) and Alhaji Issa Abass, namely lawyers Ellis Owusu Fordjour and Mohammed Atta have filed their final addresses in the narcotics case against the accused persons. Both Tagor and Issa Abass have pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them by prosecution led by Acting Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Mrs. Gertrude Aikins. The Presiding Judge, Mr. Justice Jones Dotse, an Appeal Court Judge, sitting as an additional High Court Judge has ordered the prosecution to also file their final written address on or before 19th November, 2007. The Presiding Judge then adjourned the case to 28th November, 2007. On that date both defence and prosecution teams would explain their final written addresses, before the Judge could fix a date for the judgement in the much publicized case. Listeners would recall that the accused persons have been charged in connection with an alleged confessions the accused persons allegedly made at ACP Kofi Boakye’s house, which was recorded on tape. The content of the tape is mainly about the missing cocaine on MV Benjamin and related issues. By Bernard Quanson
