A Community Library Complex stocked with assorted books to serve school children in Bawjiase and surrounding communities, costing GH¢52,700 (¢527,000,000) has been inaugurated at Awutu Bawjiase in the Central Region.
The project, financed by Plan Ghana, an NGO, upon request by the people was named after the late David Quaye through whose instrumentality Plan Ghana, came to Bawjiase.
A 10-seater toilet and a hand washing facility financed by Plan Ghana was also inaugurated.
The District Chief Executive for the area Mr. Solomon Abbam Quaye who inaugurated the projects urged parents to provide their children with their necessary school materials.
He asked them to contribute their quota towards education of the children
to supplement government effort at improving education.
Mr. Joseph Chris Assan, Bawjiase area Programme Manager of Plan Ghana expressed his gratitude to their sponsors in Sweden for making funds available for the project.
He appealed to the district Assembly and the District Education Directorate to engage a permanent librarian to man the library.
Mr. Assan appealed to people to ensure that the facility was properly used to prolong its life span. He urged the school children to make good of the facility to improve their knowledge.
Mr. Oppey Abbey, Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya Constituency urged parents in the area to encourage the children to patronize the library to facilitate their education.
He promised to provide two Computers for the library out of his share of the Common Fund to give the children access to Information Technology.
