A 42-year-old man, Kweku Menaba was on Tuesday remanded in custody by a circuit court at Cape Coast for allegedly attempting to steal goats and sheep at Yamoransa.
Menaba pleaded not guilty and is to be re-arraigned on Friday March 14.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo said on March 5, 2008, at about 0100 hours, Menaba and a friend, Kojo, who is deceased, went to Yamoransa with the aim of stealing goats and sheep, but luck ran out on them, when Kojo was shot by a hunter, who saw them trying to steal the animals.
He also alleged that Menaba, managed to bring Kojo to his residence at Nkanfoa, a suburb of Cape Coast, where he died a few minutes later.
He said the police, who had earlier been tipped off that a man bleeding profusely had been seen being carried by another into a kiosk at Nkanfoa, went to the scene, where they found Menaba and the father of the deceased standing over the body.
The two were arrested, but Kojo’s father was released after investigations proved he was not related to the death.
