A Nigerian who attempted posting two large parcels of cannabis through a post office in Ghana on Thursday appeared before the Greater Accra Regional Tribunal.
Daniel Nnaemeka Michael resident in Lagos said the parcels were given to him by his brother-in-law in Lagos to post the drugs and others items in Ghana.
Charged with attempted exportation of narcotic drugs without authority and possessing cannabis, the tribunal did not take his plea.
Michael, who has been remanded into Prison custody will reappear on November 21.
Mr Asiamah Sampong, a State Attorney said Micheal was resident in Lagos and on October 23, this year, he went to the Post Office with a suitcase to be posted to one Chukwidi Okafor in China.
Michael was given a delivery form to fill and was later asked to open the suitcase for inspection.
A coconut, a quantity of smoked fish, toy mobile phone and keyboard, body cream and a packet of balloon were found.
Examining the suitcase, the post clerk detected a false compartment and when he cut it opened, two large parcels of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis were found.
During interrogation Michael said the suitcase was given to him by one Bennet, his brother in law in Lagos to be posted in Ghana for him.
Michael admitted that he knew the contents of the suitcase.
The dried leaves were forwarded to the Ghana Standard Board for examination, and the police were yet to receive the report.
