A 20-year-old man, Osei Emmanuel, has been arrested by the Nima District Police Command for stealing a car battery of one of the accident vehicles parked within the yard of the station. The suspect, a truck pusher at the Odorna market area, was arrested around 3pm on Friday after he attempted to convey it out of the yard. He was said to have been spotted by one of the police officers at the entrance of the police barracks carrying the battery on the head. Confirming the story, the Nima District Police Commander, Aduhene Bernieh, said following a series of reports of theft in the police yard of missing parts of some of the accident vehicles, the police were put on a high alert to arrest the culprit. Emmanuel Osei was seen carrying the car battery on the head and leaving the barracks around 3pm. “When he was questioned by a police officer, he could not give any explanation as to where he got the battery from and where he was taking it to. Mr. Bernieh averred that he was arrested and detained by the police. “When further checks were conducted on the accident vehicles parked at the station, we found out that the battery of one of the vehicles had been removed and so he was queried. He said the suspect later confessed having taken the battery. The commander said the suspect would be arraigned soon.
