Pastor John K. Sarkodie of the Apostolic Church, Ghana, has identified some of the causes leading to broken marriages as the inability of couples to commit themselves to their marital vows. He said marital vows are a covenant with God binding couples to stay together, till “death do them apart”.Pastor Sarkodie, who is also the Kasoa East District Pastor of the church, made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, after preaching on: “The Marriage Vow and Covenant.” He said marriage is an honourable institution, that has been divinely sanctioned and “what God has put together let no man put asunder”.Pastor Sarkodie asked couples to work towards the sustenance of their marriages, by exhibiting understanding, love, and humility through the help of the Holy Spirit. He advised wives to be submissive, obedience, hard working and respect their husbands and exhibit tolerance even in the face of provocation. Husbands must also love their wives and not to seek vengeance, explaining that disagreement offers opportunity for free expression of ideas.
