Professor John Evans Atta Mills, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flag bearer arrived in Accra after leading a four-man delegation to Germany where they met with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) of that country.
The NDC described the SPD as a sister party who invited them to participate in their National Conference.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency on arrival, Mr Johnson Asiedu-Nketia, General Secretary of the NDC, who was a member of the delegation, said Prof. Mills expressed concern about the global warming of the world, which posed a challenge to the environment.
He said Prof. Mills impressed on the world that global warming was one of the factors of capitalist activities "because through their activities they imposed hardship on the innocent victims whom might not be the direct beneficiaries of the capitalist system."
Mr. Asiedu-Nketia said the activities of the capitalist system were a concern to social democrats who shunned social injustice.
He said Prof. Mills spoke against nuclear activities in Africa, especially in Ghana.
"Prof. Mills asked the international world, especially the socialist movement to ensure that election 2008 was contested on even playing field to ensure the flourishing of Ghana's young democracy," Asiedu-Nketia said.
On Representation of People's Amendment Law (ROPAL), Mr Asiedu-Nketia said Prof. Mills said the NDC was not against the law itself as it wished all Ghanaians both home and abroad could exercise their franchise without let or hindrance but then it was the concern of the party that its implementation could lead to abuse, which could destabilise the country's peace that it was enjoying.
Prof Mills after interacting with Ghanaians in Germany, Mr. Asiedu-Nketia said he impressed upon them to come to Ghana to exercise their franchise in the 2008 election and urged those working there to return to Ghana to help their kinsmen fight against corruption, the drug menace and lies in the country.
He said by that, Ghanaians would be laying a solid foundation for the future generation to live decent and upright lives as Ghanaians were enamoured with other country's socio-political achievements.
Those accompanied Prof. Mills included Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, National Organiser of NDC and Mr. Kofi Attoh, International Relations Director of the party.
