The Editorial Team of peacefmonline.com wishes to retract an online publication that made spurious allegations against the person of Mr. Kwadwo Twum Boafo, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Board.
The said article, in the form of a press statement from Mediawatch Research Associates an organization that touts itself as dedicated to addressing corruption in Ghana and Africa, asked “President Mills, the Attorney General and the Criminal Investigations Office of the Ghana Police Service to investigate a deposit account at the Standard Bank in South Africa registered in the Names of Mr. Kwadwo Twum Boafo, the current Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Board and Pieter Van Huggestien.”
“Van Huggestien is a South African Businessman currently wanted for Corporate Fraud and False Accounting in South Africa and believed to be hiding in Djakarta, Indonesia.
The statement also requested the above organizations “to investigate the alleged disappearance of 500,000 Dollars from the Ghana Free Zones Account for the year MAY 2009 to NOV 2010.
Our checks, however, indicate that the allegations lack evidential support and/ or contained factual inaccuracies and also cannot be independently substantiated.
The press release again claimed the alleged malpractice took place between May 2009 and November 2010, but available evidence shows that the current CEO of the Free Zones Board Mr. Kwadwo Twum-Boafo was appointed in July 2009.
PEACEFMONLINE.COM therefore expresses regret at publicizing this factual inaccuracy, retracts and unreservedly renders an unqualified apology for any embarrassment and damage the publication might have caused to the image and integrity of Kwadwo Twum Boafo, his family, friends, business associates and the Ghana Free Zones Board.
