SPEED Ghana Urges Market Women To Save Website
Support Programme for Enterprise Empowerment and Development (SPEED), an NGO, in collaboration with DANIDA, the government of Ghana and the German Development Cooperation (GTZ) on Wednesday, organised a road show at Asante Mampong to sensitise the people, especially market women, 01on the need to save. Dubbed “Save for the future”, the programme was aimed at educating the people to relate effectively with financial institutions in order to access credit facilities to expand their businesses. In an interaction between some rural banks representatives and the prospective customers, the latter expressed worry about the fact that some banks were not treating their customers fairly. Some also expressed their concern on how some financial institutions vanished into thin, so people are scared of entrusting their monies to the mushrooming small bank, whilst others and claim their salaries are so low for them to save. Mr Francis Heinson Ofori, Credit Officer in charge of Micro-Finance of the Kwamanman Rural Bank, Mampong, thanked the people for patronising the programme and promised to improve upon their banking services. Mr Ofori advised those, who apply for loans to be “certain of what they were going to use the money for, before they take it” and advised that, they should try and pay back early for others to also enjoy the loan. He called on bank officials to treat their clients with respect. Sekyere Rural/Community, Kwamanman, Otuasekan Rural Banks were a few of the banks present.
