Ghana's senior national soccer team, the Black Stars arrived in Accra, five days to the commencement of the 26th Africa Cup of Nations to a tumultuous welcome at the Kotoko International Airport in Accra.
The Stars, who have been based in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates since January 4, 2008, in preparations for the competition, were met on arrival by thousand of soccer fans led by various supporters' bodies amidst drumming and dancing.
Officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) had a hectic time to move the team to their local camping base to continue with preparations.
Ghana would take on Guinea in the opening match of the tournament on Sunday, January 20, at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra.
The team is made of the following players, Goalkeepers - Sammy Adjei, Richard Kingson and Dauda Abdul Fatawu.
Defenders: Sarpei Hans Adu, Pantsil John, Mensah John, Barusso Ahmed Apimah, Asare Nana Akwasi, Addo Eric and Illiasu Alhassan.
Midfielders: Michael Essien, Kumordzi Bennard, Draman Haminu, Afful Harrison, Annan Anthony, Kingston Laryea, Muntari Sulley Ali and Ayew Andre.
Forward: Gyan Asamoah, Agogo Manuel, Asamoah Kwadwo, Gyan Baffour and Owusu-Abeyie Quincy.
