Eric Tawiah of the Winneba Good, Better, Best Junior High School clocked 49.48 minutes, to win the Fifth Annual Cowbell U-15 Jubilee Marathon held in Accra on Saturday. He was followed by Philip Martei with a time of 50.37 minutes, while Shaibu Bentum took the third position with a time of 52.43 minutes. Joyce Arhin of Awudome Junior High School won the Ladies category with a time of 54.54 minutes, Joyce Denu placed second with a time of 59 minutes while the third position went to Adjo Aboma with a time of 59 minutes. More than 100 athletes took part in the 15-kilometre race which was organised by Future Professionals Sporting Club and was sponsored by Promasidor Ghana Limited. Mr Samuel Atuahene, Greater Accra Regional Chief Sports Development Officer praised the club for organizing the competition. He advised sportsmen and sportswomen to avoid cheating in sports and take their training seriously to enable them win laurels for themselves and the nation as a whole. Mr Atuahene said next year, the Greater Accra Regional Sports Council would take part in the sponsorship of the programme which would include U-20 event. Nii Okai II.Darkuman Mantse, also advised the participants to desist from indulging in nefarious activities such as drug abuse in order not to ruin their lives. Mr Inusah Mohammed, Events Co-ordinator of Promasidor Ghana Limited gave the assurance that the company would continue to sponsor the programme in the coming years.
