The industrial nerve centre of the country, Tema was thrown into a frenzied jubilation immediately Ghana's national team, the Black Stars scored their second goal against the Atlas Lions of Morocco at the Ohene Djan stadium in Accra.
There was spontaneous jubilation by the aged, the youth and children as they filled the central streets to capacity amidst drumming and dancing.
Clad in the team's paraphernalia, the jubilant supporters danced to and fro on the streets, as they sang in support of the players, while embracing each other, with some sitting on the bonnets of vehicles while drivers of private and commercial vehicles were honking ceaselessly.
Some young men and young women added colour to the event by skating on the streets thus bringing vehicular movements to a temporary halt, however the drivers were enjoying the game regardless of the delay.
The behaviour of the cyclists and motor riders was, however, frightening as they sped along the street recklessly.
Sellers of the Stars’ paraphernalia had a good business day as the fans looked around and ready to buy whatever material could complete their joy.
