The Ho Magistrate Court, presided over by His Lordship P.W.O. Amedior, has remanded two persons in police custody over the alleged murder of an 18-year-old boy at Hodzo-Nyamesi in the Ho municipality. The suspects are Kwaku Agbozo, alias Mosquito, from Hodzo-Nyamesi, and Elias Eneh from Hodzo-Alavanyo, both in the Ho municipality. A third suspect, David Etse from Takla-Tokor, who was charged with abetment of crime, was however granted bail of GH¢2,000 (¢20 million) and asked to report himself to the police once a week. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Peter Insaidoo said about 4.35 p.m. on September 27, this year, the chief of Hodzo-Nyamesi, Togbe Adoe Agbozo, accompanied by his brother and an elder, went to the Ho Police Station to report the disappearance of his nephew, Kwame Kumah, since September 24, this year. He said while investigations by the police were going on to find the missing boy, the chief came back to the police station on September 28 and reported that a search party organised from the community had uncovered a grave behind Kwaku Agbozo's house containing the mortal remains of the alleged missing boy. The prosecutor said at the time the suspect and his wife had apparently vacated the village. He said on receipt of the second complaint from the chief of the community, the Ho Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent K. Kutu, led a team to the scene and when the grave was dug, the body was identified by the deceased's father, Mr Prosper Mottey, as the remains of his son. The body has been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary pending autopsy. Chief Inspector Insaidoo told the court that further investigations led to the arrest of the two suspects, adding that a search conducted in Agbozo's room led to the discovery of two bloodstained machetes, a shovel and a hoe that were allegedly used in digging the grave. He disclosed at Agbozo, who was arrested at Ave-Posmonu, stated in his statement to the police that Eneh had shot and killed the deceased with a gun at 4.03 p.m. on September 24. The prosecutor said upon hearing the shot, Agbozo said he came out to ascertain what was happening and saw Eneh holding a gun. He said Eneh allegedly threatened to shoot Agbozo if he ever disclosed what he had seen to anyone or failed to help in burying the deceased. He said Agbozo allegedly obliged the order and brought out a shovel, two machetes and a hoe to help in burying the deceased, stating further that Agbozo later confided in Etse, who advised Agbozo to leave the community. Chief Inspector Insaidoo said on September 25, Agbozo went to Etse to plead for financial assistance to enable him to leave the town, adding that Etse went the extra mile to accompany Agbozo through the bush to Posmonu. The court adjourned on the request of the prosecutor to enable further investigations into the case.
