Charles Danjimah, a 25-year-old unemployed from Assin Fosu who faked madness and escaped from the Twifo Praso Police Station was on Friday charged with escaping from lawful custody. The court, presided over by Mr. Seth Bio-Nyamekye remanded the accused in prison custody for one month. His plea was not taken and would re-appear on April 29, 2008. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector George Okine told the court that sometime in December 2006, the accused was charged with threat of death. Prosecution said, while in custody, the accused behaved abnormally and was detained at the Twifo Praso Hospital for sometime and later referred to Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital for examination. The prosecution said while arrangement was being made to send the accused to Psychiatric Hospital at Ankaful, he smeared his body with human waste and managed to escape. Chief Inspector Okine told the court that, Constable Clifford Attaglo who was on duty was held for misconduct and after a service enquiry, dismissed. The prosecution told the court that on March 12, 2008, upon a tip-off the accused was arrested by the Constable Attaglo. After a brief investigation, he was charged with the offence.
