MTN, Ghana‘s leading service provider in Voice, Data and Mobile Financial Services, has launched the “MTN Fibre Broadband” service. The high-speed fibre powered broadband network service is designed to provide fixed internet connectivity to homes, offices, corporate organizations and SMEs. A statement issued in Accra by Mrs Cynthia Lumor, Corporate Services Executive, MTN said in addition to the high-speed, subscribers of the service would enjoy affordable prepaid data bundles to suit their needs. It said customers would also enjoy Value Added Services such as video-on-demand, Internet Protocol television, Voice and Video Calls, Games and many more. Mr Richard Densu, the Senior Manager for Enterprise Technology Enablement, sharing details of the new services said MTN is offering fibre broadband service because of the benefits associated with fibre technology. He said: “Fibre is the best technology for the delivery of fixed internet access and its related services. It is superior, durable, provides higher speeds and is much more reliable compared to copper wire, which is susceptible to cable theft and may experience frequent disruption of service.” Mr Samuel Addo, the General Manager for MTN Business, said MTN is committed to creating enabling opportunities for individuals and businesses to enable them conveniently connect to the bold new digital world. “We believe this service will provide convenience for customers to work from their homes whilst reducing the economic burden and the inconvenience associated with travelling long distances to the business district to transact business,” Mr Addo stated. He said that MTN would continue to develop tailor-made solutions to meet the requirements of customers to enable them enjoy the convenience that the Broadband service provides. He said the service is targeted to meet the needs of Real Estate Developers, Office Complex Planners/Builders, Corporate organisations, SMEs and Students/workers’ Hostels. The service has already been deployed at the Vanguard Estates located at Amasaman and Chateau Towers in Osu. The service would soon be available to customers within Airport residential area and Blue Rose Estates (Kasoa), while other locations have been earmarked for the deployment of the Fibre Broadband service within the year and beyond. The launch followed to the commercial of MTN’s 4G LTE internet service in June designed to provide the fastest internet speed to customers. In pursuing its digital agenda, MTN has invested over $ 2.512 billion in Technology and Network infrastructure to deliver fast and reliable telecommunications services to customers. MTN Business was recognised at the recent Ghana Information Technology and Telecom Awards (GITTA) as the “Telecom Business of the Year”.
