Three public basic schools in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District scored zero per cent in the 2009 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
None of the candidates presented for the examination obtained between aggregates five and 25 to qualify them to gain admission into senior high schools, technical and vocational institutions this academic year.
The District Chief Executive, Madam Georgina Nkrumah Aboah, who disclosed this at the end of a three-week capacity building training for 169 community teaching assistants at Breman Asikuma, however, did not mention the schools.
The training was organized by the Ghana Education Service in collaboration with the National Youth Employment Programme and the district assembly.
The training was aimed to equip the community teaching assistants with the requisite skills and knowledge to enable them to fill vacancies that exist in some public basic schools in the district.
Madam Aboah advised them to ensure that the knowledge and skills they had acquired reflected on their work.
She told them to work hard to help reverse the falling standards of education in the district.
