Rapper P. Diddy has called a report claiming he was behind the 1994 shooting of hip-hop star Tupac Shakur “completely untrue” and “a lie”. The musician said the allegations, published on the Los Angeles Times website, were “beyond ridiculous”. The publication said their claims were based on FBI records, witness accounts and other unnamed sources. Two years after the attack in New York, Shakur died in a separate shooting incident in Las Vegas. The 1994 shooting triggered the feud between East and West Coast rappers that led to the killings of Shakur and Notorious BIG. “It is beyond ridiculous and completely false. Neither [BIG] nor I had any knowledge of any attack before, during or after it happened,” he said. “I am shocked that the Los Angeles Times would be so irresponsible as to publish such a baseless and completely untrue story.” Diddy - real name Sean Combs - refused to be interviewed for the story along with talent manager James Rosemond and promoter James Sabatino, who were allegedly accused of arranging the assault in the article. Mr Rosemond called the story a “libellous piece of garbage.” He said: “In the past 14 years, I have not even been questioned by law enforcement with regard to the assault of Tupac Shakur, let alone brought up on charges. “I simply ask for all rap fans and fans of Tupac to analyse this fiction for what it is.” The Los Angeles Times was unavailable for comment.
