President John Evans Atta Mills and his Vice John Dramani Mahama on Sunday November 21, 2010 joined thousands of people at the Tamale Vitting Senior High School Park to pay their last respect to the late NDC Northern Regional Chairman, Alhaji Sumani Zakariah.
Alhaji Sumani Zakariah died on Monday November 8, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after a protracted illness. Other dignitaries at the function included former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, Dr. Obed Asamoah and Dr. Kwabena Adjei, National Chairman of the NDC.
